Parking Plonkers of Raunds
As for this next one, which rolled into the middle of the car park whilst the owner was shopping is a blatant example of failing to control a motor vehicle and in my opinion deserves a fine and points. What if there had been a child or elderly person that was unable to get out of the way?
Worst of all?? This all happened within 2 minutes on Wednesday afternoon at the Co-op, Raunds.
Please draw your own conclusions to this.

Menorca Day 6 - Cats and Cocktails

We always knew there is a resident cat lurking somewhere from the sleep imprints he left each night on the cushions. Finally we caught glimpse during the day when he appear from behind the bushes.

So an evening out locally in Cala Fonts. Only two weeks ago a couple opened the Lemon Cocktail bar serving the genuine item. She from America and he being local. The ladies voted the Cosmopolitans the best and proceeded to have a couple each which didn't bode well for later. Mr Cas, as a second drink, chose a very small ladies drink of a B52 and Mr R a whisky sour. Yours truly a large beer

Having walked the length of the harbour and watched the sunset, we settled on Dinkums for dinner (yes that is the name of the restaurant and not some weird Spanish dish). Fresh fish and more wine and more wine, in fact too much wine. I have to tell you that the women just started to get over excited and after paying the bill we had no option but to insist that they went home. The men are racking up a huge brownie point surplus on this holiday.

PS The discovery of the night is the Rioja you can see on the table above. Only €10 in the restaurant and the day after in the supermarket €3.65. We have been clearing the shelves ever since!

Menorca Day 5 - Mahon
The capital, Mahon, is only a few miles from our villa and is well worth a visit. Although not on the grand scale of its larger neighbour, Palma, there is plenty to do and see. Not least the excellent shopping (for female types) and good selection of bars and restaurants (for sensible people on holiday).
The bus service from Es Castell runs on the hour and 30 minutes past. Costs pennies and takes 15 minutes. So off we went.

The bus station is at the top of the town and all roads lead down to the port. Literally down. A long way down (just note that you have to come back up, a long way up). After at least 15 seconds it was obvious that the women folk were desperate to get stuck into serious shopping for clothes, shoes and bags. Great opportunity for the men to pull the "let's rendezvous back here in 2 hours" allowing us to wander around taking in all the cultural sites. For which read track down some elevenses and beer.
After meeting back up, lunch was needed and as usual this is where the day started to degenerate. We appear to have no off switch when it comes to Sangria, beer, wine and Herbas (local liqueur).

Several tapas dishes later a walk to the top of the port was required. Stunning views.

Then a walk back to the bus via the old part of the town.

Needless to say that several more clothes shops got in the way. Misbehaviour had started.

One last shop before our return which met with everyone's approval - local cheese and sausage. Purchases made for tonight's dinner at home.

Naturally time for one last drink at the bus station of all places!

Menorca Day 10 - Doesn't Time Fly
Oh dear, I am so sorry. This holiday has been so action packed that my blogging has taken second place. We are having so much fun!
So where are we? Well you already know that we are on the Island of Menorca in a small village just to the south of the capital Mahon called Es Castell. And to be even more accurate the residential area of Santa Anna just above the harbour of Calla Fonts.
A very unspoilt area with definitely no kiss me quick hats, English breakfasts or any other tat from other places I could mention.
This holiday was always going to centre around two main things, food and of course drink. Here are a selection of images collected so far. Please note that the first drinks consumed where by Mrs CT and Mrs R at 06:30 at 30,000ft somewhere above the English Channel. Events have gone downhill since then.
All 6 of us are foodies and have investigated all that the local area has to offer. Again here are a few pictures. Many more to follow including fried sea anenomies, tripe, liver and other beasties from the depths.
Needless to say, the women have also spent countless hours in and out of shops of various sorts
and boys will be boys
